Seven Steps in Seven Minutes!

Monday, March 2, 2015
Raise your hand if you barely have any time to get ready in the morning?!

Me! Me! Me!

I think in some alternate universe I could actually get myself together AND get a three year old out the door AND look as good as the 100+ fashion & beauty blogs that I follow. To those women - you. go. girlfriend. I want so badly to be as put together as you. It's what this mama's dreams are made of.

I'm going to keep trying to problem solve where I'm going wrong - cough, snoozing 70 times - but in the meantime, here is how I keep it simple with seven steps in seven minutes!

(one) This is a great primer that reduces pores and gives your skin the perfect start to your beauty routine. The product itself lasts forever which is great and it's priced really reasonable. I try to get an even better deal by waiting until Black Friday and stocking up when they run deals ;)

(two) This is a new one for me and yes, yes, YES. I was using Makeup Forever Foundation which I also LOVE but I wanted to try something a little lighter. I've seen a cult following for this NARS tinted moisturizer and after using it for two weeks I agree that everyone is on to something! It's super pigmented so it still gives substantial converge and it's buildable for those problem areas.

(three) This is only $5.99 and makes a good under eye concealer and HIGHLIGHTER! I put this down the bridge of my nose, on my chin, above the top lip and my forehead.

(four) This is an amazing option for contouring in a jiffy. It works on my skin tone BUT I will say that I don't think it would be right for everyone. Blend, blend, blend!

(five) NARS mata hari has been a long time love :)

(six) This is another one I've been using for a long time! Easy to apply after you take the time to teach yourself to use a brush and seriously long lasting.

(seven) This is a good day to day mascara but I have to say I don't discriminate when it comes to mascaras. I buy anything and I think some drug store ones work just as well!

My makeup routine is definitely longer when it's a special occasion but this covers everything I need for most days! I am constantly trying new products - major junkie and I love experimenting! But it always comes down to these seven steps. And if I've had two cups of coffee I can get it done in less than seven minutes ;)

What are your secrets for quick morning makeup?

Dreaming of spring & our trip to Hawaii

Saturday, February 28, 2015
The stomach flu. It's terrorizing us.

Rylan has been sick for three days and I can feel it sneaking up on me. I'm trying to will it away with spring cleaning and pretty flowers.

It's not working. My whole body aches. This winter has been particularly tough - Rylan switched over from an in home daycare to a preschool. It's been amazing for him as far as learning but I'm starting to feel like building up his immune system is part of his curriculum. Eeek! We've been under the weather more times than I can count or remember.

So I'm just going to pretend I'm in Hawaii circa October 2014. Because that was just a really lovely place to be. Happy Saturday! Stay warm, healthy and think spring :)

Ever heard of KEEP?

Friday, January 30, 2015
Happy Friday! I started this morning off with a maple bacon donut - thank you, Jesus - and obsessing over KEEP.

This is quite likely the best thing to happen to me online since Pinterest. I couldn't get off of this site all yesterday because it's so gosh darn addicting. The great thing about KEEP is that EVERYTHING on the site links directly to where you can buy it. You don't even have to leave the site itself to make the purchase! If you're a Pinterest fanatic, you know how frustrating it can be to find something you love only to click on the pin and realize it took you to a site soliciting diet pills. Errrrr? (Can someone do something about that?)

When you scroll thought the KEEP feed you can "like it" - "keep it" - or "buy it." How easy is that? What isn't going to be easy is convincing my husband that I don't have a shopping problem.

But my VERY favorite thing is that it watches the things that you've decided to "keep" and sends you a notification if the price changes!! So for all the busy ladies and mamas out there who can't quite find the time to track all the pretty things on her wishlist to get a steal, KEEP will do it for you :)

Happy shopping!! xo, M

our wedding day! (part two)

Wednesday, August 13, 2014
Just a few more :) My amazing photographer - Kate Magee - started "the patriot project" where she takes pictures of people with the American flag and they explain why they love this country! Ever since I saw her first post about it, I wanted in. So she asked if maybe I was interested in doing it for the wedding and.... YES, I didn't have to think twice! Those ended up being my favorites by far.

The only thing I wish I had done differently for the wedding was hire a videographer. If you're still planning and you're on the fence about it, DO IT! I wish we had video to look back on over the years. My memory is the worst so if I can barely remember it now (a few too many champagnes) then I don't think it's going to get better from here haha.

Cheers and love to my new husband, you've made everything better than it ever was.

our wedding day! (part one)

Monday, August 11, 2014
Our wedding was a true whirlwind. As cliche as it is, it FLIES by. No one can prepare you for the feeling the morning after when it's just over. All those months and all that obsessing is just POOF! Over. It's crazy!

Our original venue was in a beautiful outdoor garden. We were going to be married in front of a wrought iron gate, eat under the trees as the sun set and then dance our booties off next to amazing fountain filled with floating candles. It was three venues in one and just gorgeous. But you know, as I would have it, the weather pulled a total jerk move and we had to move inside. (Which was also completely lovely but when all of your decor was for an outdoor wedding... it just isn't what you envisioned.) I'm a perfectionist when it comes to how things look so I may still be trying to get over the loss of garden :) The day was still full of pink, gold, ivory and green...

I swear my mom is crying from happiness!! And tomorrow I'll post the ones of just us and rest of the party that night
